Monumental Works

For nearly two decades at the Kyiv Monumental and Decorative Art Association, Bartossik worked alongside the artist Ernest Kotkov on three-dimensional compositions for public space — sculpture, mosaic and architectural ensembles across Ukraine.

“Meteorite”

Iron and concrete with mosaic of glazes and marble; stainless-steel module

A sculpture rising up to 15 metres, faced with a mosaic of glazes and marble and crowned with a specially fabricated stainless-steel “module.”

An architectural composition running the full length of the station: a brass-and-light line terminating in a central panel of brass, marble and brass stars, together with platform lighting and the brass door-track wall. The station opened on 30 December 1984. Soviet-era elements of the design have since been altered under Ukraine’s 2015 decommunisation laws.
